What shipped in the app and the adapter, and when

Both halves ship here: the Windows app on the Microsoft Store, and framekeep-mcp, the adapter on npm. Dates are the days each one was published.

App 1.0.124 August 2026
  • Framekeep is on the Microsoft Store. Install it here. Windows 10 version 2004 or newer, x64.
  • Connect your AI without a terminal. The setup screen picks the folder you work in and writes the MCP config itself, so Claude Code, Cursor and VS Code find Framekeep when they next start.
  • Speech models download from Settings. Until now the only way to get one was a command line, which meant an installed copy could never transcribe anything. Recordings still reach the queue without a model — you get the frames, just no transcript.
  • A recording no longer fails because speech is unavailable. It finishes with frames and says so, rather than turning the whole row into an error.
  • Errors say what went wrong on the row itself, instead of hiding in a tooltip nobody found.
  • The C++ runtime ships inside the package. On a machine without the Visual C++ Redistributable the app used to die at launch on a Windows error box, before running a single line of its own code.
0.2.121 August 2026
  • The setup command now runs on a stock Windows install. It reads npx.cmd rather than npx: a fresh machine runs PowerShell under its default script policy, which refuses to load npx.ps1 and answers running scripts is disabled on this system — a message about a setting that reads like a broken computer. Found by installing on a clean Windows account.
  • The server reports its real version. It had been announcing 0.2.0 as 0.1.0, because the number was typed in one place and published from another.
0.2.020 August 2026
  • New: output_mode. video_frames can return frame paths instead of pixels — and refuses to for any recording with a hidden frame, because a path sits one folder away from the original nobody hid.
  • Setup instructions corrected. The published page had been giving Codex users a command that does not run; it now reads --global --client codex --yes.
  • The requirement on Node.js 20 or newer is stated up front, which nothing said before.
0.1.018 August 2026
  • First working release. init writes the client config; video_map and video_frames serve a recording once it has been approved.
  • The config it writes points at an absolute path rather than at npx, so clients that cannot spawn npx on Windows still start the server.
  • Licensed BUSL-1.1.
